“I recently went to see my happy uterus lady (HUL) – that’s not her official job title, it’s just what I like to call her. I initially went to see Danielle – a Maya Abdominal Therapist – to increase my chances of fertility and to improve my female health. When I sat with her and gave her my reproductive history we both realised there was a whole lot more to work on. I had cysts on my right ovary, a retroverted uterus, a missing Bartholin duct and I had suffered menstrual cramps for almost 27 years – not severe cramps, but enough to make me reach for the hot water bottle and feel miserable for half the day. The first period after my treatment was different – I had NO cramps, NO pain and I felt fabulous all day. Wow!! I was really blown away – I had been suffering my whole menstrual life and now after a massage treatment with HUL…. nothing!! And the happy news for husband – no more hot water bottle duty! I’m currently writing about my whole experience with Danielle and the transformation of my female health in what I hope will be the last chapter of the book.”
Normally the uterus leans slightly over the bladder in the center of the pelvis, about one and a half inches above the pubic bone. It is held in this position by muscles, the vaginal wall and ligaments that attach it to the back, front, and sides of the pelvis. Uterine ligaments are made to stretch to accommodate a growing fetus inside and to move freely when the bladder or bowel is full. The ligaments and muscles can weaken and loosen, causing the uterus to fall downward, forward, backward or to either side. For more information on what causes a displaced uterus click here
A uterus in any of these positions is called tilted or prolapsed. Modern medicine has little or nothing to offer women with this problem. Options may include using the birth control pill, muscle relaxants, or surgery and women are generally told, “your uterus is tipped, but that is normal and don’t worry about it.” Yet women have a laundry list of physical and emotional symptoms that can be addressed and prevented with these simple, noninvasive massage techniques. When reproductive organs shift, they can constrict normal flow of blood and lymph, and disrupt nerve connections. Just a few extra ounces sitting on blood and lymph vessels can cause havoc throughout the different systems in the body. By shifting the uterus back into place, homeostasis, or the natural balance of the body, is restored in the pelvic area and the surrounding organs. Toxins are flushed and nutrients that help to tone tissue and balance hormones are restored to normal order. This is essential for healthy pregnancy, labor, and delivery.
Old adhesions from invasive treatments to the pelvic and abdominal area, including fibroid tumors, endometriosis, and cesarean delivery are diminished when addressed by uterine massage. In addition, digestion, urinary and bladder problems can be helped.
“The uterus is the woman’s center. If her uterus is not in proper position and good health, nothing in her life will be right. She will be as out of balance as her uterus.”

“Thank you so much, for a beautiful, powerful treatment. You have a lovely touch; very gentle and reassuring. As for my uterus, well whatever we did – the talking about her, the treatment to her – we woke her up! I love, love, loved the way you spoke of her. Really brought her into being. All night last night I kept half awakening – maybe 10 times – and every time she was talking! I have no idea what she was saying, but talking she was. It was all I could think about as I half woke and went back to sleep. Chatter, chatter, chatter! Wow, she has a lot to say!”
